7132 Hotel

A contemporary alpine retreat above the thermal baths in Vals

Set in the alpine village of Vals, 7132 Hotel is shaped by architecture, water, and the rhythm of the mountains. Built around the legendary thermal baths designed by Peter Zumthor, the hotel offers a considered approach to hospitality where space, material, and stillness define the experience. It is a place to slow down, bathe, and inhabit one of Switzerland’s most quietly powerful landscapes.

Overview

7132 Hotel is conceived as an immersive retreat built around three pillars: architecture, thermal bathing, and considered hospitality. At its core lies the 7132 Thermal Baths by Peter Zumthor, an architectural masterpiece carved into the mountainside from locally quarried Vals quartzite. The hotel is not simply adjacent to the baths. It is designed to orbit them, allowing guests to move seamlessly between private space and ritual bathing throughout the day.

The accommodation at 7132 Hotel is intentionally limited and restrained. Its 22 rooms and suites are calm, understated, and shaped by natural materials, muted tones, and carefully framed alpine views. The offering prioritizes space, light, and silence over decorative gestures. Rooms are places to withdraw and reset, while remaining deeply connected to the surrounding landscape through shifting weather, fog, snow, and mountain light.

Wellness at 7132 is not programmatic but elemental. Guests experience the thermal baths as a sequence of atmospheres rather than treatments, moving through cool, warm, dark, and open spaces shaped by stone, water, and sound. Extended and late evening access on select days allows hotel guests to experience the baths in near silence, reinforcing the sense of ritual and exclusivity that defines the stay.

The offering is completed by a refined culinary program anchored by a two Michelin Star restaurant, alongside more relaxed dining spaces and the Blue Bar. Food, like architecture, is treated with precision and restraint, using regional Alpine ingredients without excess. Together, accommodation, bathing, and dining form a cohesive experience that values presence over performance. 7132 Hotel is not designed to entertain, but to restore, offering guests the rare luxury of time, stillness, and architectural depth.

“Architecture is at the core of everything we do. It plays a major role in our guests’ experience throughout the hotel and especially in the 7132 Thermal Baths.”

Tips & Recommendations

01 / 05

Nearest Airport

Zurich Airport is the nearest international gateway and the most practical point of arrival. From Zurich, the journey to Vals takes around three hours by car or public transport and becomes increasingly scenic as you enter the Valsertal.

02 / 05

Getting There

7132 Hotel is accessible by air, road, rail, or helicopter. Guests may arrive by car via Chur, Flims, and Ilanz, with valet parking and EV charging available. By train, travel is via Chur to Ilanz, followed by a direct postal bus to “Vals, Therme.” For a seamless arrival, 7132 Hotels offers private limousine transfers and helicopter flights within Switzerland. 03 / 05

Best Time to Visit

Each season offers a distinct experience. Late autumn and winter are particularly atmospheric, when cold air heightens the contrast with the warm thermal waters and snow transforms the valley into a quiet, monochrome landscape. Spring and early summer bring gentler temperatures, blooming alpine meadows, and quieter hiking trails. Early mornings and evenings are the most serene times to visit the baths year round.

04 / 05

What to Bring

Pack lightly and comfortably. Swimwear for the thermal baths is essential, along with warm layers for changing mountain weather and sturdy walking shoes. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is relaxed and understated, and casual attire is appropriate at all times.

05 / 05

Private Bathing Hours

Guests of 7132 Hotel benefit from privileged access to the thermal baths during extended and late evening hours on select days. These moments, when the baths are quieter and more contemplative, offer a deeper sense of immersion and are among the most memorable aspects of the stay.
