Abode Bombay

A socially responsible boutique hotel in Mumbai

Set in the vibrant neighborhood of Colaba, Abode Bombay offers an intimate and deeply local way to experience one of the world’s most dynamic cities. Created as an alternative to anonymous luxury towers, the hotel blends heritage architecture, thoughtful design, and a strong sense of social responsibility, inviting guests to feel both grounded and connected in the heart of Mumbai.

Overview

Abode Bombay was created with a simple but radical idea: to reflect the true spirit of the city through people, place, and design. Housed within a restored art déco building, the hotel preserves original features while layering in vintage furniture, original artwork by local artists, and materials sourced entirely within India. The result is a space that feels authentic, warm, and distinctly Bombay.

The hotel offers 25 individually designed rooms, ranging from simple to spacious suites, each prepared with organic bed linen, restored Indian vintage furniture, and locally sourced upholstery. While layouts vary, the experience remains consistent: comfortable, characterful, and designed for rest after the sensory intensity of the city.

Wellness and care are integral to the offering. Guests have access to an on-site wellness room and independent local therapists, including visually impaired massage practitioners trained through Abode’s social initiatives. Fitness is supported through partnerships with local gyms, guided city runs, yoga, and meditation sessions, allowing travelers to maintain balance while exploring Mumbai.

Beyond the hotel, Abode Bombay acts as a gateway to the city. Guided walks, cultural tours, and local introductions invite guests beyond the surface, from early morning flower markets to neighborhood cafés and historic sites. Abode Bombay is not designed to shield guests from the city, but to help them engage with it more thoughtfully and humanly.
