AnaYela
A boutique riad in Marrakech’s Medina
Behind an unassuming door in the Marrakech Medina, AnaYela opens like a private world of candlelight, craftsmanship, and quiet imagination. This 300 year old city palace is built around a courtyard pool and a rooftop terrace above the red city, offering a stay where heritage is felt in the hands of artisans and in the calm that settles the moment you arrive.

Overview
AnaYela began with an unusual intention. Co-founder Andrea Bury first imagined it as a place for people to come together and rethink the future, inspired by the contrasts of Marrakech and the power of its traditions. The house was discovered while wandering the Medina and restored using traditional techniques with artisans from the mountains and the neighborhood, preserving the original structure while rebuilding the interiors with patience, skill, and care.
The design is both deeply Moroccan and quietly modern. Tadelakt walls, hand carved plaster, cedar ceilings, and hammered metal doors create a tactile sense of place, while the styling stays calm and uncluttered, shaped by natural materials and candlelight rather than clichés. A calligrapher carved the love story of a young girl named Yela into doors and walls, so guests move through the house as if reading chapters of a book, where heritage and imagination meet.
With five rooms arranged around the courtyard, the rhythm is intimate and unforced. Two rooms open onto the patio beside the pool, while the first floor holds additional rooms and suites, an open lounge for slow meals and conversation, and a terrace with panoramic views. Two suites include private fireplaces, and the house can also be rented in full for families, friends, or small groups seeking privacy, staff, and a complete, tailored experience.
Purpose is woven into the stay. The ABURY Foundation grew out of the renovation and focuses on education, skills, and empowerment, especially for girls and women. For guests, this creates a rarer kind of luxury, one grounded in meaning, connection, and craft. In a city that can feel vibrant and overwhelming, AnaYela offers the opposite, a place to exhale, listen to the courtyard birds, linger over a rooftop breakfast, and return to yourself.

“Marrakech can be vibrant and overwhelming. AnaYela is the opposite. It’s where guests exhale, listen to the birds in the courtyard, enjoy a slow breakfast on the rooftop, watch the sunset, and really arrive in themselves.”
