Casa Vipp

A design-led mountain guesthouse in Andorra

Casa Vipp is a quiet architectural retreat hidden within the high mountains of the Pyrenees, where design, landscape, and silence come together in perfect balance. Set inside a restored traditional stone Borda in Andorra la Vella’s old town, this intimate guesthouse offers a rare opportunity to inhabit design rather than simply admire it. It is a place shaped for those who value clarity, material honesty, and calm, where the experience unfolds slowly through light, texture, and the surrounding mountain world.

Overview

Historically, the Borda was an essential rural structure in Andorra, used to store grain or shelter animals during harsh winters. Casa Vipp preserves this heritage while reinterpreting it through a contemporary lens. The stone exterior remains grounded in its alpine context, while the interiors reveal a refined, lodge-like atmosphere shaped by Vipp’s unmistakable Scandinavian design language. The result is a dialogue between past and present, restraint and warmth, tradition and modern living.

Developed in collaboration with local design consultancy Bau Studio, Casa Vipp is the brand’s first guesthouse outside Scandinavia. Inside, the space unfolds across two levels, offering approximately 100 square meters of carefully composed living. The lower floor features an open kitchen connected to a dining and living area centered around a fireplace, complemented by a small balcony and discreet laundry facilities. Everything is intentional, calm, and quietly functional.

Upstairs, a custom metal staircase leads to the bedroom and a generous bathroom with an open shower and freestanding bathtub. From the iconic porthole windows, guests look out over Andorra la Vella and beyond, where steep valleys and mountain peaks frame the horizon. The view reinforces the sense of elevation and detachment from everyday rhythms, grounding the experience firmly in place.

Casa Vipp is not about distraction or excess. It is about inhabiting space, cooking slowly, watching the light change across the mountains, and living with design that is meant to last. Whether used as a winter base for mountain adventures or a contemplative retreat in warmer months, the house rewards those who move gently, observe closely, and appreciate the quiet intelligence of thoughtful design.

“While each Vipp guesthouse explores various architectural archetypes and carries unique identities, the common denominator is a carefully curated aesthetic where the Vipp kitchen and furniture collection are repeated.”
