Galopina
A boutique jungle retreat in the Yucatán for slow, intentional living
Galopina is a quiet retreat hidden within the Yucatán jungle, designed for those who wish to slow down and return to what feels essential. Set inside the Cenotes Ring State Reserve, this intimate retreat invites guests to live at nature’s rhythm, where time stretches and silence becomes part of the experience.

Overview
Galopina was conceived as a house rather than a hotel, a place where hospitality feels instinctive and deeply personal. Created by Elisa Navarrete and Guillaume Galopin, it reflects a desire to return to something more grounded, where guests are welcomed as one would welcome friends, with care, warmth, and quiet attention to detail.
The property sits just outside Mérida, within a protected natural reserve of low Yucatecan forest. It feels both remote and intentionally connected, offering easy access to cenotes, haciendas, archaeological sites, and the historic towns of Izamal, Maní, and Valladolid. Built from raw jungle, the project took shape gradually, guided by the land itself. Even the path that leads to the property carries history, once used to transport henequén during the region’s hacienda era, creating a subtle bridge between past and present.
The five suites are designed in dialogue with the landscape. The Tierra suites remain grounded within the vegetation, offering an immersive jungle experience, while the Cielo suites rise above the treetops, opening onto expansive views and star-filled skies. Each space is intentionally understated, with natural materials, private terraces, and a calm aesthetic that allows the surroundings to remain the focus.
Life at Galopina unfolds through simple, deliberate moments. Mornings begin slowly with homemade breakfast, afternoons invite rest in hammocks or quiet walks beneath the trees, and evenings settle into stillness, where candlelight, fireflies, and the sounds of the jungle replace distraction. With only five suites, the experience remains intimate, offering a rare sense of privacy and presence that stays with you long after you leave.

“Staying at Galopina is like being at your Yucatecan home. You arrive through an old path that carries history, surrounded by jungle, birds, and silence. From that moment on, time changes pace.”
— Elisa Navarrete and Guillaume Galopin, Founders
