Kabn Loch Fyne

An architect-designed off-grid cabin retreat on Loch Fyne

Kabn Loch Fyne is a quiet retreat shaped by restraint, landscape, and intention. Set directly on the shores of one of Scotland’s most scenic sea lochs, these architect-designed cabins offer a rare form of luxury defined by stillness, privacy, and connection to place. Here, modern minimalism meets raw wilderness, creating space to slow down, disconnect, and restore balance.

Overview

Kabn Loch Fyne sits within a private estate on the eastern shore of Loch Fyne, shaped by the vision of founders Amber Pledge and Charlie Teale. Here, forested hills descend gently into the water and the landscape unfolds without interruption, creating a retreat that feels both deeply private and quietly connected to its surroundings, yet within easy reach of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

With only two cabins, positioned more than 100 metres apart, each stay feels entirely personal. Their approach is intentional and restrained, allowing architecture and landscape to exist in quiet dialogue, where the loch, the light, and the shifting weather shape the experience.

Each cabin is a 27 sqm one-bedroom suite designed as a self-contained sanctuary. Tall ceilings and full-height glazing draw the landscape inward, framing uninterrupted views of water and sky. Inside, the bedroom and ensuite bathroom sit gently apart from the living space, creating a subtle sense of retreat. Materials are natural, refined, and purposeful, offering comfort without excess.

Though identical in layout, the two cabins express the Kabn philosophy in distinct ways. Shio Kabn captures changing light through its Japanese-inspired slatted glass gable, while Teru Kabn opens dramatically to the loch through a panoramic glass corner. Days unfold through wild swims, quiet walks, and long moments of stillness, where the experience is defined not by what is added, but by what is intentionally left out.

“Luxury here is quiet and considered. It is found not in more, but in meaning, in simplicity, stillness, and a deeper connection to the wild beyond.”
