Zannier Phum Baitang
A soulful Khmer village retreat near Angkor Wat
On the outskirts of Siem Reap, just moments from the temples of Angkor, Zannier Phum Baitang unfolds like a traditional Cambodian village. Set within 20 acres of gardens and working rice paddies, this “green village” offers a rare sense of stillness at the gateway to one of the world’s greatest archaeological wonders. Here, simplicity is not minimal. It is soulful.

Overview
Phum Baitang translates to “green village,” and the name feels literal. Wooden stilted villas rise above rice fields and lotus ponds, inspired by centuries-old Khmer architecture. Sugar palms sway in the distance. Water buffalo move slowly through the paddies. The design language is intentionally vernacular, honoring Cambodia’s rural heritage while delivering refined comfort and privacy.
The 45 free-standing villas are styled as traditional Khmer farmhouses. Terrace Villas offer 62 square meters of interior space with generous outdoor living areas designed for unhurried afternoons. Pool Villas expand to 72 square meters and include private plunge pools set within landscaped gardens, complete with thatched-roof salas and daybeds. Handpicked antiques, natural materials, and local craftsmanship create interiors that feel deeply rooted rather than decorative.
Beyond the villas, cultural immersion defines the experience. Private sunrise access to Angkor Wat. Guided visits to Bayon and Ta Prohm. Boat journeys through the floating villages of Tonlé Sap Lake. Market tours followed by hands-on Khmer cooking classes using herbs from the resort’s own gardens. Each experience is designed to connect guests not only to monuments, but to the rhythms of Cambodian life.
Wellbeing is centered at the Spa & Serenity Temple, inspired by the architecture of Angkor itself. Traditional Khmer therapies, energy-balancing rituals, steam and sauna sessions, and even water blessings by Buddhist monks create a holistic journey rooted in local belief systems. Dining continues the narrative at Bay Phsar and Hang Bay, where Cambodian flavors meet culinary artistry, while the Sunset Lounge evokes colonial-era romance beneath the coconut palms. This is not simply a stay near Angkor. It is an immersion into its spirit.
