FROM GLOBAL INSPIRATION TO A TYROLEAN VISION
LaPosch was founded in 2008 by Amelie and Dominik Posch, whose roots in Tyrolean hospitality run deep. Inspired by travels to destinations such as Namibia and Patagonia, they began to imagine a retreat where architecture could exist in dialogue with water and wilderness.
“In Namibia, we were fascinated by the idea of life right by the water,” they recall. “We loved how nature, in all its raw elements, could be brought so close.”
That influence translated into a bold idea for Austria: chalets positioned beside a natural swimming lake, combining alpine tradition with international perspective. Their ambition was not expansion for its own sake, but to create a private mountain escape in Biberwier where guests could reconnect with nature and with each other.
“We wanted to build more than just a holiday destination,” Amelie and Dominik explain. “We wanted to create a place where people could reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with the people they love.”
Over the years, LaPosch has grown to sixteen individual chalets, each designed with distinct character. The expansion followed a philosophy of intention rather than acceleration, reflecting a belief that modern luxury is rooted in authenticity and ease rather than excess.
ALPINE DESIGN WHERE TRADITION MEETS MODERN COMFORT
LaPosch’s architectural language reflects a balance between rustic Tyrolean heritage and contemporary clarity. Natural materials dominate. Timber beams, stone surfaces and warm textiles create intimacy, while clean lines and expansive glazing introduce modern proportion.
Each chalet spans two levels and includes a private mountain-view sauna, generous living areas and immediate access to the lake. The newest chalets introduce refined design details that evoke nostalgia without imitation. Toggle light switches, vintage-style cable sheaths and handcrafted fixtures add subtle character.
“For the new chalets, we planned charming details that bring back the feel of earlier times,” the owners share.
The result is an alpine chalet village in Austria that feels cohesive yet individual. Interiors are intentionally understated, allowing mountain views to remain central. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Zugspitze massif. Fireplaces anchor living spaces. Outdoor terraces extend the experience into fresh alpine air.
“This balance between modern design and nostalgic flair has become a signature part of LaPosch’s identity,” Amelie and Dominik note.
The architecture does not compete with the landscape. It clarifies it.
“We wanted to build more than just a holiday destination; we wanted to offer a private mountain escape where comfort, authenticity, and relaxation come together. We wanted to create a place where people could reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with the people they love.”

ALPINE LIVING, CUISINE AND NATURAL WELLNESS
Life at LaPosch unfolds at a measured pace. Mornings begin with seasonal breakfast baskets delivered directly to each chalet. Guests choose when to rise, when to dine and how to structure their day. Privacy remains central to the experience.
For dinner, Das Walters, the on-site restaurant awarded two Gault&Millau toques, offers refined Tyrolean cuisine in a relaxed setting. Ingredients reflect regional terroir, presented with contemporary lightness. For those who prefer seclusion, in-chalet dining preserves intimacy.
Wellness at LaPosch is inseparable from its alpine environment. Private saunas overlook mountain landscapes. Hot tubs invite immersion beneath open sky. The natural swimming lake offers refreshment in warmer months. Fresh mountain air replaces artificial spa atmospheres.
Spring brings snow-dusted peaks above blooming valleys. Summer introduces hiking and cycling trails throughout the Zugspitz Arena. Autumn turns forests golden. Winter transforms the landscape into a snow-covered sanctuary.
“Our guests appreciate thoughtful design, personal touches, and the luxury of slowing down,” the owners explain. Whether visiting for a romantic getaway, a family holiday or a digital detox, guests experience seclusion without sacrificing service.
A personal concierge ensures that each stay feels tailored. From curated hiking routes along the Loisach River to recommendations for hidden alpine spots, LaPosch connects guests to the surrounding Tyrolean Alps with intention.
DISCOVERING THE ZUGSPITZ ARENA AND BEYOND
While LaPosch feels self-contained, its setting within the Zugspitz Arena invites exploration. The Loisach River offers tranquil walking paths. Mountain trails lead to panoramic viewpoints across the Tyrolean Alps. Nearby lakes provide opportunities for paddleboarding and swimming during summer months. In winter, ski slopes and cross-country trails lie within easy reach.
The region balances accessibility with authenticity. Biberwier retains village character. Inns and alpine huts serve traditional cuisine rooted in Tyrol’s culinary heritage. The surrounding peaks shift color throughout the day, reflecting light that feels almost architectural in clarity.
Looking ahead, Amelie and Dominik continue to evolve LaPosch with care. Growth remains guided by personal vision rather than market pressure.
“Since we started in 2008, we have grown step by step without losing the soul of the place,” they reflect.
LaPosch stands today as one of the most distinctive luxury chalet retreats in Austria. It offers privacy without isolation, service without intrusion, and design that enhances rather than dominates its setting.
For travelers seeking a stay in Biberwier that combines alpine authenticity, architectural clarity and natural wellness, LaPosch provides a rare synthesis. A sanctuary shaped by mountains and lake. A place where tradition meets modern comfort. And where the truest luxury remains the space to breathe deeply beneath an open alpine sky.
“This balance between modern design and nostalgic flair has become a signature part of LaPosch’s evolving identity—a retreat shaped by dreams, travels, and a deep love for storytelling through design.”
